We had one of these weekends where you say to yourself "Wow has my life changed!". Gone are the days of sleeping till noon and lounging around all day. By golly, we are parent and we have things to do and places to go and all of this has to happen before nap time.
In our home we have a back room that just sorta sits there and collects crap. I call it the Sh*t room. Bobby and I have been arguing for a while what the actual purpose of this room should be. Bar. Sun room. Playroom. Bigger kitchen!!!!! (that was my choice). Finally this weekend we decided it should be turned into Avery's playroom. I know what your thinking, she's only nine months. Does she really need a playroom? Well, we agreed yes for a multiple of reasons. One- giant plastic crap is taking over my life (despite how many times I tell my family to not buy her plastic toys, they still keep coming). It's in my kitchen, my living room, my bathroom. It's in every nook and cranny of this house. Two- we need a safe place that we don't have to worry about her touching the fire place or pulling that glass vase on to the floor. Three- we need a place where other peoples children can go when they come over to our house. So, there you have it...Playroom it is.
Saturday morning we headed out to perform our very parental errands. Avery woke up at 6am so we calculated the opening times of all three stops we had to make and very carefully decided on our route. First, we stopped at Buy Buy Baby to return baby gate #1 (Bobby was the first customer in that morning arriving at 9:02). Next, we stopped at Babies R'Us to return baby gate #2. Lastly, we headed to Ikea to outfit our new playroom. We chose a rug, couch, table and chairs set, storage and art easel (because it was oh so cute and only $15).
When we returned home we worked on transforming our Sh*t room from this |
