26 Weeks

* How far along?: 26 weeks and 1 day

* Total weight gain: I have no idea. I don't weigh myself at home and I don't look at the scale at the dr.'s office. Im assuming they will tell me if there is a problem...scales scare me.

* How big is baby?: The size of a head of lettuce.

* Sex: BOY!

* Maternity clothes?: Most definitely. I still try and get away wearing pre pregnancy sweaters and such. I think the styles are so much easier now to transition with open front cardigans and flowy tops.

* Stretch marks?: nope

* Sleep?: Yes please. I want to sleep all of the time. This baby is seriously sucking the life out of me. As far as sleeping at night Im starting to really get uncomfortable. I haven't broken out the giant maternity pillow yet but I think it might be time.

* Best moment this week? I had a fetal echocardiogram last tuesday and we find out there are no cardiac defects for this little guy. It was definitely a relief to hear that he is all healthy.

* Movement?: All the time. I think we have a soccer player in here. He is sitting super low, sometimes I feel like a foot is going to come out.

* Food cravings?: Fruit Smoothies. I can't get enough of them! I have been to Smoothie King, Planet Smoothie and also making them at home. Yummy!

* Labor signs?: I have noticed a few Braxton Hicks contractions lately. I never had these with Avery so its definitely new for me.

* Belly button in or out?: In

* What I miss: Being able to get comfortable in bed. Its going to be a long few weeks before this little guy makes his debut and they I won't be getting any sleep.

* What I'm looking forward to: Working on the nursery. We have painted, but so far thats it. I will feel much more at ease when it all comes together.

* Milestone: Almost 27 weeks- Viability Day!

Avery says...

In the middle of a "terrible two" tantrum today

Mommy: Avery, you are being very rude to mommy.
Avery: No mommy, Rudi's being rude.

Mommy then tried to hide her snickering and realized maybe she needs to rethink her vocabulary with her two year old.

*Rudi is our 9 year old Cockapoo

25 Week Update

This morning was my echo to check out our little babes heart. Since he has a single umbilical artery he is at a higher risk for cardiac defects so our dr.'s just wanted to make sure (cover their asses) that everything was fine. As is turns out, his heart is picture perfect. Seriously, the dr. told me the pictures she got today were some of the best she has ever seen and they could be used in a textbook. It was such a relief to get the good news and to be honest I was expecting it. I just had a feeling everything was going to work out this time. And here it is

the 25 week bump

Maybe I should think about making my bed :)

Avery says...

On the car ride home tonight...

Avery: "Momma, I wanna watch a movie in mommy's bed."
Me: "Its already your bed time honey. We have to go home and put your jammies on and get ready for bed."
Avery: "We talk about it at home momma."

Who does this kiddo think she is. She's stealing me lines.

Nursery Ideas

I have a hard time with baby nurseries in general, probable because I don't love "baby" decor. Im not a fan of designing my house in boats, trains, princesses or fairies. I hate how baby items look so ummm babyish. When planning my daughters room both my husband and I were looking for something that would grow with her and I think we eventually achieved that (with the help of my fabulous friend/interior designer). Here is a look at Avery's nursery.

Boy oh boy do I wish Pinterest had been around when I was planning Avery's nursery. I think it would have saved me a lot of time and money. I have no idea how to make a mood board or design board on the computer so Pinterest is where I store all my ideas and this nursery is no exception. After searching the internet for what seemed like days, I finally narrowed it down to one "inspiration picture". Here it is...

We are going for this overall color scheme. I haven't yet decided if we will paint the crib or not, Avery's crib was off white and I prefer the black shown above. We will be getting a new dresser since Avery is still using hers as well as crib sheets, draperies, a rug (found an awesome knock off to this one) and and a light fixture. Im sure there will be a few odds and ends that we pick up and add to the room as well.

This weekend I had my husband clear out the room which we will use for the nursery and I started testing paint colors. I guess you could say Im officially in "nesting" mode. Im getting so excited for this lil guy to arrive and am having so much fun preparing for him.

Here is the room we are using for our baby boys nursery...

The room is currently a home for my old furniture which happens to be broken

I have seen so many paint colors in the last few weeks my head is about to spin off

Testing paint colors on the wall- Im leaning towards the top left color

Can't wait until the room is done and reveal the final product!!!
